Adom TV, currently the most patronised television channel in the country, announces the first ever local telenovela christened “Sankofa”.

A partnership between the station and Messiah Productions, the series, rendered entirely in Twi, explores the matrilineal inheritance system of the Akan peoples via the story of a king whose wife has been unable to bear him children, compelling him to resort to another wife who quickly turns out to be fertile.

Circumstances which follow, make for a very compelling account which seeks to answer the questions pertaining to love, legitimacy, and truth.

“Sankofa” premieres this Monday, May 7, 2018, and airs Monday to Thursday from 1:30pm to 4pm. It will be followed by chatroom discussions compered by Adom TV’s, Maame Akua Austin, who also hosts Asempa FM’s flagship show, Abrabo.

Touching on the significance of the programme which also bears the alias “Kumnovela”, Channel Manager of Adom TV, Abena Yiadom, divulges that it is consistent with the overall philosophy of the channel — providing rich content to audiences in a language relatable to them. She also adds that it is in line with her outfit’s drive to bolster the creative arts industry in Ghana.
