African Movie Superstar

Brooklyn, NY --It was all glitz and glamour at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel, as the
superstars of African movie, and fans' favorites stormed Brooklyn, NY for
the 10th Annual Five Continents Awards. Ghana's finest were represented
by the inimitable Van Vicker and Nadia Buari, co-stars of the "Beyonce, The
President's Daughter" series, who received the awards for their roles in the
above mentioned movie. Heavily representing Nollywood were; Chinedu Ikedieze
aka Aki; Osita Iheme aka Pawpaw; Patience Ozorkwo aka Mama G, G for General
(who received a standing ovation, with overexcited fans rushing to take
pictures with her and got her autograph); Mike Ozuronye, Jim Iyke, as well
as Omotola Jalade (yes the one and only, known to drive a Beamer with a
personalized number plate, "Omotola 1" and a Chevrolet Jeep with a
personalized number plate- "Omo Sexy"( onlinenigeria.com). Also present was
Stephanie Okere, winner of the Best Actress of the Year and Best English
Actress in the 2003 Reel Awards in 2003 ( naijarules.com), who looked
stunning in her elegant gown and never shied away from the cameras. She,
Omotola, and Nadia are some of the stars Hollywood will be keeping an eye
on.

The event was in honour of Nollywood/Ghollywood for raising the bar for the
African movies industry which has now become a very profitable venture.
Speculators agree that Ghollywood/Hollywood is about to take off in the fast
lane like never before and that the time has come to add depth and glamour
to movies instead of the same old story lines which are duplicated over and
over again.

The event was emceed by NY's Master of Ceremonies and Comic; Papa Linc.
Papa Linc who was invited at the eleventh hour brought the house down with
his great sense of humour. He is becoming a hugely popular personality in
the African American/Caribbean community in New York. B. Clay had a
great performance and Steve Kelly; African Hiphop/R&B Star started the event
with a prayer. Brooklyn Pioneer DJ, Daddy Osei was also in the mix, rubbing

shoulders with the stars.

The Consul General of Ghana, His Excellency Obeng Gyan Busia, was one of the
dignitaries who graced the occasion. Despite some organizational setbacks in
the beginning of the night, many fans turned up to meet and greet their
favorite stars and were very excited. The movie stars, in return put up a
good show and were equally graceful and thankful to the organizers for event
in general and their awards in particular. The stars looked like Hollywood
Superstars worth "a million bucks". What more can be said; never seen
African actors receiving so much recognition. Nollywood/Ghollywood is
definitely waiting on BIG HOLLYWOOD TO CALL.

Full coverage of the event can be seen in the upcoming new magazine called;
3G about to hit newsstands in mid 2008.
