Agya Koo Accused Of Destroying The Movie Industry

The latest revelation about the local film market has it that the man who resurrected the collapse of the Ghanaian film industry is at the same time killing it with his latest attitude to work. The man in question is Agya Koo aka “Braam”.

In a media interaction with the CEO of Peace Films Production Mr. Joseph K. Serebour, he revealed that Agya Koo was the one who helped the movie industry back on its feet but now his latest working conditions is also sending the strengthened industry back on its ground.

The revelation has it that Agya Koo has now refused to shoot movies at night without any proper reason to support his claims which is disturbing the Twi movie production currently. Mr Serebour added that this has made many of the producers and directors in Kumasi to shy away from him since he makes their work difficult on location.

“How can you shoot a movie and insist that you will not shoot at night. All movie scenes cannot be day light. Definitely, there could be some night scenes here and there. But Agya Koo will never shoot any of his scenes, if it will go deep in the night. Can we go forward with this attitude” he asked.

Peace Films has released its first English movie so the question was why he has shifted attention to English knowing the profit margin in doing the Twi movies. One disturbing issue which also came out in the media interaction over the weekend was the fact that Agya Koo has now instructed all producers and directors who want to work with him to restrict their working days with him to just two days, no matter the number of scenes he has to shoot in a movie.

It was revealed that Agya Koo now insists on shooting all his movies in just two days. “What is happening now is that anytime you want to work with Agya Koo, then you have to get more cameras at the same time which is very expensive for the work we are doing. Moreover, when it happens like that it disorganizes all our work and puts things in a wrong way.

How can a director shoot about sixty (60) scenes in just two days without night scenes during a video shoot. It makes the industry very strange and tedious. We all appreciate the good deeds of Agya Koo in the movie industry but with what he has started doing, I can say that it will push the industry back again.

So we want him to desist from it. Now there are some movies I want to shoot with Agya Koo but because of these new regulations from his part I have to hold on now. I have worked with Agya Koo before, he was not like that by then, but now we don`t know where this new development is coming from’”Serebour lamented.

In another development, Mr. Serebour made it clear that the Twi movies sell better than the English movies but will not help the Ghanaian movie industry to go beyond our boundaries. It is in the wake of this that`s why he now wants to shift attention to English movies which is comparatively expensive.

Agya Koo could not be contacted for his denial or refusal since all his contact were not getting through as of the time of going to press. Flex newspaper will delve deep into these issues to find out if really, Agya Koo has intentions of collapsing the local movie industry. The same industry that he helped to resurrect some time ago.
