One of Ghana’s enterprising guitarists, will perform live at Alliance Francaise during the launch of his maiden album, Life In The Pot, on Saturday October 27.
Trumpeter Mac Tontoh of Osibisa fame and Wulomei would perform alongside Akablay at the launch.
Akablay’s 14-track CD album exhibit the skills of Akablay as one of the best guitarists in Ghana today and he has performed with a number of seasoned Ghana musicians such as Rex Omar, Jewel Ackah, Nat Brew, Daddy Lumba and a host of others.
The 42-year-old guitarist, in chat with Beatwaves said Ghanaians need to encourage musicians to play guitar because African, as such, Ghanaian music, is based on the guitar. “You can imagine where the industry is heading towards,” he said.
Akablay, who is determined to promote the use of guitar in Ghanaian music, has worked tirelessly to come out with his maiden album, which is a composition of rhythms, not vocal music. Many would call it jazz music but it is not.
The 14-track album is something unique of African origin. So come October 27, Akablay would display the hidden talent in him on stage at Alliance Francaise to unveil to the whole world his maiden album.
