Akatakyie’s story is one about struggle, perseverance, strength and togetherness and with the good albums they keep recording, they have been transformed into stars.
Every now and then, a hiplife act emerges into the ‘now choked’ hiplife game. Pharaoh (Kwabena Budu Asumaning) and Culture (Ebenezer Kwasi Okyere Asumaning) who arrived six years are seriously recording a gospel album and will also be introducing their junior brother, Kwesi Yesu on this album as the lead singer.
When asked why they are recording a gospel album, they said “we want to thank and praise God and also use this album to tell people that God helps those who help themselves.
They joined the hiplife scene with their first album titled ‘Ghana Mmaa’ with hit songs like 'Odo Esisime'; followed it up with ‘Kente’ with songs like ‘Ohemaa’ and the third one was ‘Odo Osikyere’ with ‘Mi Gboo’ as the lead song.
They now have their latest titled ‘Yedi Aba’, which has songs like ‘Sinsi Ma’ and ‘Aware Pa’. The ‘Aware Pa’ track is the favourite among listeners. With ‘Sinsi Ma’, they have proven their ability to create good songs, which has earned them recognition as one of best singing hiplife groups. The creation of Akatakyie was after the two brothers realized that they can’t make it big until they join forces.
With Akatakyie, they don’t do hiplife but do ‘Rhythm Afric’ but their fans have painted them as hiplife artistes. ‘Rhythm Afric’ deals with a lot of singing in the African way. Ace sound engineer Zapp Mallet and Don Dee were the sound engineers who blessed the album.
Akatakyie are good and talented musicians but are under a poor management. They know it is their name that is promoting them and not the management. So please if you are a good promoter and want to talk music business with them please call +233 24 426 0028.
One thing about Akatakyie is that when you get a copy of their album, you will play the songs over and over again.
