Renowned Kumawood actor Akrobeto has explained why some women and married women face beatings and harassment in their relationships.
The actor stated that some married women are mistreated because they rely on their spouses.
He noted that 90 percent of Ghanaian women enter relationships and choose not to work to support their partners because they believe their partners should provide for them.
He said this dependency leads to disrespect and mistreatment from their partners.
"You should also make an effort. Not every woman is fortunate to marry a wealthy man. Why do we send women to school? We educate them so they can acquire skills and knowledge. Women should not always rely on men. Sometimes you lose your respect. That's why we bother women, we beat you, and other things," he said.
The actor encouraged women to stop being demanding and instead offer support to their partners.
"Out of 100, I can say 90 percent of women get married and depend on their husbands for everything. A man will marry a woman and support his wife, children, and sometimes his wife's family, which is not helpful. You should also do your best. The days of married women being housewives are gone, in this modern era, there is no such thing as a housewife. You too, go out and work hard and contribute so we can all enjoy," he added.
Akrobeto's comments come after Nigerian actress and producer Funke Akindele advised women not to rely on men for success.
He supported the actress's statement and urged women to take her advice seriously.
