Entertainment pundit, Lawrence Asiamah, popularly known as Bullgod, has blamed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) historic defeat in the 2024 general elections on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He explained that some actions of Akufo-Addo prior to the elections, including commanding chiefs to stand before greeting him, did not sit well with some individuals who may have felt disrespected.

The entertainment pundit also recounted how the president told chiefs from Ekumfi that he did not develop their area because they did not vote for the NPP candidate in the parliamentary elections.

Speaking on United Showbiz, aired on UTV on December 14, 2024, Bullgod stated that President Akufo-Addo’s arrogance infuriated Ghanaians, leading them to vote massively against his party.

“A lot has been said, but I think arrogance cost them. The day I saw a video of Akufo-Addo instructing chiefs to stand before greeting him was shocking. There was another time Ekumfi chiefs went to meet him at Jubilee House, and they complained about the lack of development in their area.

“He said because they did not vote for his MP, he forgot about them. Sometimes, I wonder why people don’t talk back at him. For me, the arrogance topped it. So, when he leaves office, does he expect people to listen and respect him?” he quizzed in Twi.

This comes after the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, declared the results of the 2024 general elections on December 9, 2024.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, emerged as the winner, garnering 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55%, while the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, finished second with 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.

The NPP also lost most of their parliamentary seats, with some of their bigwigs like KT Hammond, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and Henry Quartey being major victims.
