All is set for Harvest Praise 2014, which certainly promises a blend of old and contemporary local and foreign gospel music – and the expectation can justifiably be raised with high profile bill.
“All in all, on Good Friday, April 18, is set to explode with one of the greatest gospel music events in the history of Ghana, and you can't afford to miss the experience as the guest artiste, an American Gospel music composer and performer, Kurt Carr and Harvest Gospel Choir, are to stir Christians on Crucifixion Day.
“The American Gospel star is expected to touch down in Accra on Thursday, April 17,” Mr Daniel Adjei, Chairman of the Planning Committee told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Monday. He said the gospel show is being carefully managed to harness the excellence of content and spread of space for a totally fulfilling experience for attendees.
He said the show will be streamed live on the internet, radio and TV throughout the country and beyond.
From a humble platform, mainly featuring the passionate resident choir, Harvest Gospel Choir, Harvest Praise, has grown into a thriving international music ministry, bringing renowned local and foreign artistes of all shades ministering through gospel music and word.
A ministry arm of Harvest International Ministries, Harvest Praise has been touching hearts, reviving lives and bringing them into the presence of GOD for years running.
The Easter program has consistently been marked through a series of musical performances, including Harvest Gospel Choir's albums and theatrical concerts that bless young and old across denominations, and unite the body of Christ for a common divine purpose.
Harvest Praise's message of hope has reached millions not only in Ghana, but also around the world through the help of its media partners, Mr Adjei stated.
“Years in and years out, numerous souls have turned to God through Harvest Praise and financial proceeds from the programme have been donated to help the needy and other orphanage institutions in the country,” he said.
Mr Adjei noted that Harvest Praise stage has contributed immensely to the development of the country's music industry - discovering talents, promoting musical careers, and refreshing the image of contemporary choral music.
According the Harvest Praise 2014 Chairman this year’s event will also serve as a gospel musical platform for both local and international artistes, to display elements of distinct modern harmonies and singing styles found in urban contemporary.
The profile of Kurt Carr obtained by the GNA indicates that the songs of the 50-year-old music composer include: “We lift our hands in the Sanctuary,” “I almost let go,” “Awesome Wonder,” “Don’t Let Your Light Go Out,” “God Great God,” “Jesus Can Work It Out,” “Let Everything That Has Breath Praise,” “Like A Mighty River,” “My Time For God’s Favor,” “The Lord Strong and Mighty,” and “We Offer You Praise”.
Carr was a piano accompanist for Andrae Crouch’s music ministry for one year, and also the Choir Director of the West Los Angeles Church of God in Christ where he worked with both gospel and secular musical artistes, including Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin.
Other artistes for Harvest Praise 2014, musical event organized by the Harvest Chapel International are the Harvest Theatre, Nana Folson with the lead song “God is Good,” Deacon Yaw Antwi Dadzie, “Apple of my eye,” and the good old Daughters of Glorious Jesus.
