All set for a star-studded GUBA Awards

On Sunday, November 6, London will again play host to the esteemed GUBA Awards. The red carpet will be rolled out and the Park Plaza Embankment will house some of the UK and Ghana’s shining stars. A plethora of guests have already confirmed their attendance to the event founded by Ghanaian UK TV personality, Dentaa last year.

Ellen Thomas will be hosting alongside Ras Kwame. The Eastenders’ actress and former BBC Radio presenter is expected to take guests through a extravagant award ceremony which has in attendance the likes of Arsenal quartet Emmanuel Frimpong, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Daniel Boateng and Chuks Aneke. All four players have enjoyed much success this year with Frimpong and Oxlade-Chamberlain both making first team appearances in the league while Boateng and Aneke made League Cup appearances.

Michael Essien and John Mensah, Captain of the Black Stars, as well as GUBA patron John Pantsil will be present along with Sulley Muntari and his wife former beauty queen Menaye. Anton Ferdinand who is in the middle of the John Terry Race Row will also be in attendance. The QPR star will meet up with former Sunderland F.C team mate Asamoah Gyan. Arsenal Ladies’ Rachel Yankey MBE and Olympic medal hopeful Jeanette Kwakye will also be present.

Hugh Quashie who plays Dr Rick Griffin in Holby City has confirmed his attendance. The Ghanaian actor will be at the awards for the first time. As well as Sway who starred in the Premier of Channel 4’s Top Boy will be with fellow musician Lethal B.

The South African Commissioner Dr Zola Skweyiya has graciously accepted an invitation and will sit amongst his Ghanaian counterpart Professor Kwaku Boafo. The Ghanaian dignitary who has also endorsed the GUBA awards has expressed his pride at the awards and encouraged the message it sends out.
