A night of circus, combining theatre and dance, will unfold at the Alliance Francaise premises on Wednesday 26th November 2014 when the story of HIAO! POT OF WISDOM is told.
The piece created and produced by young up and coming Artistic Director, and Founder of Miishejeloi Dance Theatre, Nii Kwartey Owoo as part of Alliance Francaise La Paillote Takpekpe event series will commence at 7 pm.
The story is rooted in folklore and imagery found across Ghana and among the African Diaspora, and is full of tricks, dance and spectacle! The Pot of Wisdom provides the theatrical setting, where all of the wisdom found in the world was held, before it was shared among the people.
The Ga word HIAO! means 'blessings in a hundred folds,' used here to bless the sharing of wisdom among the people.
The group is made up of experienced versatile performers, dancers and musicians and is directed by Miishejeloi's founder and choreographer Nii Kwartey Owoo. Drawing inspiration from traditional Ghanaian and African dances, Miishejeloi’s choreography style weaves together narratives that speak of our heritage and history, while interconnecting with global styles and influences found in modern dance.
The event at Alliance Francaise will be accompanied by an Art Exhibition by artist H. Nortey, from Kotobabi, Accra. Tickets sell for 2 Cedis for adults whiles kids under 12 years old can attend for free.
