The management of the Amadia Shopping Centre, owned by Mrs Nana Ama Duodo, have revealed why they interrupted the press conference organised by Mr Ebenezer Smith, alias Millennium Chef Smith.
In a statement released on Thursday, July 4, 2024, it was explained singer Nana Boroo, who led the Amadia Shopping Centre's management to the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, ending in the arrest of chef Smith and his manager, is the manager of the business, and the brother of Mrs Nana Ama Duodo.
Amadia's management also indicated they stormed the presser "to verify the authenticity of Chef Smith's GWR certificate" as part of due diligence to avoid any reputational damage considering their role as primary sponsor for the chef's culinary performance from February 1 to March 6, 2024.
In fact, according to Amadia, since the month-long feat, "several attempts to contact Chef Smith's team regarding the progress of video uploads and the Guinness World Records (GWR) response" had been unfruitful.
They were, thus, surprised to learn of a press conference to celebrate Chef Smith's supposed GWR victory, as the new cooking marathon (cook-a-thon) champion.
The statement said "Numerous calls to Chef Smith's management for clarification about the press conference were ignored" and when they were denied entry into the venue for the press conference, the Amadia management resorted to the La Police Station's intervention.
Currently, "the police have taken over the investigation to determine the authenticity of the GWR certificate," Amadia said.
It also assured support for "all Ghanaians aiming for GWR attempts to promote Ghana globally".
