Legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, Abrantie Amakye Dede has been enstooled as a subchief at Agogo in the Asante Akim North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

At an event to confer on him the Honorary Chieftaincy title on New Year day, Omanhene of Asante Akyem Agogo, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong disclosed that it was in recognition of the honour he has brought to the town through music and other endeavors.

It is gathered that the ‘iron boy’ hitmaker has made several investments in the area including the construction of an ultra modern hotel which has been appreciated by the chiefs and people of the who in return bestowed the honour him with the title ‘Berima Okyeredom Amakye Dede I”

The title, Okyeredom, according to Agogohene means, the Iron Boy hitmaker is a crowd-puller and exceptional singer who through his career has won numerous accolades for himself and for Agogo.

Nana Akuoko Sarpong also announced that the conferment is to show the appreciation of the people of Agogo to Amakye Dede for his newly constructed hotel in the town.

Amakye Dede in his acceptance speech gave the assurance that he will take his new role very seriously and deliver as expected to enable the image of the ancient town travel farther.

“I want to assure Nananom that I will take my responsibility very seriously and I will do everything to uphold the dignity of this office and I will not let you down in any undertakings that I have to do”, he said.
