Highlife legend, Abrantie Amakye Dede has taken on the management of music unions, MUSIGA and GHAMRO for neglecting Kwadwo Akwaboah Jnr who is currently blind and some other great men who have contributed a greater quota in the music industry.
His disappointment comes after Kwadwo Akwaboah Jnr revealed on Atinka FM's Tete Ndwom show hosted by Roman Fada last weekend that Abrantie has been of a great help to him in his current state of blindness.
According to Mr. Serious Man, as he is passionately called, the two unions have neglected Akwaboah who at this time needs attention, love and care.
He however, appealed to musicians and the music unions to attend to people who have once contributed their quota to the development of the music industry.
“Tell Akwaboah not to mention it. Since I am able to be moving around and playing shows, I have to do my little offer to help. Because Akwaboah is one of the professional keyboardists Ghana has ever had. He has done a lot for Ghana music. So my fellow musicians should remember him and most especially, MUSIGA and GHAMRO. Some of these people have played their part.
I always talk about Akwaboah’s condition to my colleagues to help him. He has recorded a lot of songs for people even though I have not worked with him before. I will plead with the music fraternity to always extend their hands to those we are in the industry with but because of sickness can not do any hard work.”
Kwadwo Akwaboah Jnr, a professional keyboardist who through his art has recorded series of songs for most people in the music industry is currently blind.
He currently has a nomination in this year’s VGMA slated for May 7, this year in the Producer of the Year category with Omane Acheampong’s much talked about song, ‘Aposor’.
