A massive musical and model-hunt project, dubbed, ?American dream?out of Africa?, has been launched in Accra.
The project is geared towards the search for a musical and model icon from Africa, to be placed on an international label.
Ghana?s television and radio superstar, Esther Dede Mantey is CEO of The American Dream. She told the gathering at the launch that the project is intended to discover and make known the originalities and talents buried in Africa?s youngsters.
Prospective contestants will be required to pick a form at designated locations and submit, latest by October 23, 2006.
An auditioning section will be held, after which the number of contestants will be narrowed down to 10 artistes, and 12 models respectively.
Whoever wins the music section gets sign on by Def Jam Records in the United States, something that has never happened in the history of Ghana music.
The winner for the modelling section will be placed on the international market with a reputable modelling agency for exposure.
The aim for this is to get a face from Africa for Photo-shots for international magazines, music video, and more.
The event will be telecast on TV3 Network for 30 minutes, on Sunday nights, with 26 episodes, for 6 months. The grand finale is slated for February 14, 2007.
Dede will co-host the show with star musician, Batman.
