You may have heard of a group of young women “turning heads” on social media Well, this group of young women call themselves ‘pepperdem ministries” and they are causing a stir on social media with their passion, zeal and advocacy to turn the narrative and unlearn toxic accounts that seeks to degrade women.
The group in an interview with Andrew Tandoh Adote host of Tonight show said, one of the ‘toxic narratives’ that got them started was the saying that ‘women are their own enemies’
“You hardly even hear about people saying men are their own enemies when a fracas happen between two men but when it happens to women, heaven forbid women being able to have disagreement, it has to do with their gender” Amazing Grace noted.
According to the ladies, that observation made them start a social media hashtag “men are their own enemies’ to throw more light on the issue and to flip the scripts
Responding to criticism that “pepperdem ministries” is too aggressive, the ladies questioned the premise of that notion.
“This issue in itself is gendered, why men who are aggressive in their submission of views are hailed, In fact people are able to see beyond their aggressiveness and listen to them so why can’t they do same for women” Efe observed.
Reacting to popular saying like “ if you’re a woman and you misbehave no man will marry you” the ladies said, girls are raised to cherish marriage, be accommodating and committed whiles boys are raised to be ‘care free’ and careless about marriage and that is what is causing broken marriages
According to them, the two grow up not being compatible because they see marriage differently.
“If I misbehave you won’t marry me and so what” Amazing Grace added.
