Accra, April 28, GNA - Volta Regional Civic Education Clubs Champions, Anlo Senior High School on Tuesday won the 9th National Constitution Week Games Championship for second cycle schools. Students and teachers of the school were honoured with a trophy, a deep freezer and other assorted items at a colourful ceremony to usher in the Annual National Constitution Week celebration in Accra. The competition that formed part of activities marking the celebration was organised at regional levels with the winners congregating in Accra for the national award.
Keta Senior High School also from Volta Region came second; while Saint Francis Xavier Junior Seminary representing Upper West Region took the third position.
Agogo State Senior High School representing Ashanti Region was fourth, Pentecost Seminary High School representing Eastern Region fifth, and Notre Dame Minor Seminary representing Upper East Region came sixth.
Swedru Senior High School representing Central Region came seventh, Wamfie Senior High School representing Brong Ahafo Region was eighth, Ada Senior High School representing Greater Accra Region, was ninth and Salaga Senior High School representing Northern Region was tenth. Presenting the awards, Mr Laary Bimi, NCCE Chairman reiterated the call for the re-introduction of Civic Education for Schools, which used to be an examinable academic discipline.
He challenged Ghana Education Service and Ministry of Education to consider the re-introduction of Civic Education, which was long over due and urged the educational authorities to start modalities for its re-introduction.
