Ghanaian Reggae artiste Ras Kuuku has shot down claims that Reggae music has lost its relevance as a genre in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Ras Kuuku, who has been a staunch defender of Reggae for many years, said that attempts to discredit the genre and its artistes are misguided.

He addressed the claims head-on, asserting that those who believe Reggae is dead have their ‘brains dead’.

“I've been doing this for years and I've been defending reggae to the core. I hear people say reggae is dead. Anyone who says Reggae is dead, his brain is dead," Kuuku said.

He maintained that Reggae is a genre that is very much alive and continues to be a significant force in the music industry.

“Reggae music does not need hype to blow. Reggae music is within the people. So if somebody wants to tarnish the image of Reggae music and reggae artists, he is rather the problem because Reggae music is active and kicking,” he said.
