Award winning Music Producer and Musician Appiah Dankwah popularly known as Appietus has disclosed his intention to contest for the position of president for the umbrella body for musicians in Ghana –Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Appietus who revealed this in an exclusive chat with Peacefmonline.com said he has being sitting and watching what is going on in Ghana as far as leadership in the music industry is concern for far too long and he believes this is the time to fully get involved and help raise the standards of music and musicians in Ghana.

“I am going to contest because I believe this is the time for a drastic change and I believe if I should win I will take the industry very far. There are standard practices when it comes to showbiz and particularly music all over the world but I think the current administration is not up to the task and I strongly believe I will do a far better job”, Appietus said when asked why he has decided to contest.

The “Move Back” Singer said he has had the opportunity to attend world music expo “WOMEX” and other music festivals in other parts of the world and he realized that Ghana music has been left far behind.

“We lose huge amount of money in Ghana every second just because simple structures have not been put in place and it seems the current administration talks more than they act.

There are standards practices all around the world which means we can only adapt but the current administration is just sitting around”.

Asked why he wants to contest Obour even though he supported his administration, Appietus said;

“I have been on Obour’s neck for sometimes now but it seems as if things are just slow. I know Obour is doing the best he can but I believe I can do better. I have contributed to Obour’s administration but I believe I can turn things around more expediently than Obour”.

He however stated that he has no problem with Obour “It is not like I have anything against Obour but I think we need to move faster than our current situation so as to have a better future for the young and upcoming musicians in Ghana and even the ageing musicians”.

Appietus would be contesting the likes of current President Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, Daasebre Gyamena, Gyedu Blay Ambulley among others come October 2015 during the MUSIGA elections.
