Appoint Tourism ambassadors with the technical know-how - Miss universe Ghana 2017 to Govt

Ruth Quarshie, the winner of Miss Universe 2017 has indicated that the government must appoint Tourism ambassadors who have knowledge about tourism in Ghana.

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, welcomed 30 Ambassadors at a cocktail event to spearhead the “See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana”, campaign.

The campaign concept draws on re-orienting Ghanaians on a new sense of national pride in its heritage, culture, and way of life.The Ambassadors, who cut across different creative arts sectors including Musicians, Actors, Radio Presenters, Disc Jockeys (DJ) and Bloggers, are to promote tourism growth domestically and internationally to boost Ghana’s economic growth.

The ambassadors include SP Kofi Sarpong, D-Black, Nana Ampadu, Okyeame Kwame, Fancy Gadam, Agya Koo, Lucky Mensah and Sena Degadu.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nana Adwoa Annan, host of E-News on Accra-based Atinka TV,Ruth Quarshie a 23-year-old lady business administration graduate explained candidly that,” Dubai, apart from oil, tourism is the next important area which fetches them more income so if we could also make our own attractive, it will help us in a million of ways”,

Throwing more emphasis on the problems militating against tourism in Ghana, Ruth disclosed that,” the bad state of our roads to some of the tourist sites do not motivate people to visit the place and the authorities must appoint tourism ambassadors with technical know-how to massively improve the sector”,

Ruth who was crowned Miss Universe 2017 secured for herself a one-year modeling contract with a modeling agency in Italy and a brand new luxurious Hyundai Elantra car.
