Ghanaian Highlife artiste Joseph Nkrumah Buabeng, popularly known as Nero X, has stated that his public endorsement of the National Democratic Congress' candidate, John Dramani Mahama, ahead of the 2024 elections would not negatively affect his career.

The "Yawa Dey" hitmaker, who released a campaign song titled "Mahama for 2024," in June 2024, expressed his belief that endorsing a political figure should not spell disaster for an artiste's career.

In a conversation on Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Nero X cited examples of other artistes like Daddy Lumba and Mr Beautiful, who have thrived despite their political affiliations.

“Daddy Lumba is having his best life even though he rallied and campaigned for NPP in the past, same with Mr Beautiful, who is also faring well after campaigning for NDC and Mahama in the past.

“I see no reason people should be maligned and abused for making a political choice. As far I am concerned, my song and support for John Mahama is because I perceive him to be the right person to rescue the country and it has nothing to do with my career in future,” he explained.

The music video for "Mahama for 2024," which premiered on June 19 on Nero X's YouTube channel, encouraged Ghanaians to envision a return to NDC governance for a brighter future.
