"Asaase Aban", "Ghana Boy" Take Concert to Canada

Two of Ghana's comedians, Obed Dankyi and Samuel Otoo known in Showbiz circles as "Asaase Aban" and "Ghana Boy" respectively are in Canada to participate in this year's Anansekrom.

The trip will take the two to Montreal, Hamilton, and Toronto all in Canada. The Montreal show was expected to come-off last Saturday while the Hamilton comes off next Saturday. They will storm Toronto on the September 22.

Before emplaning for Canada last Wednesday, Asaase Aban and Ghana Boy expressed their gratitude to Key Soap for making the trip possible. The comedians dismissed rumours that their trip was a hoax and also thanked all loyal fans, inlcuding Asaase Aban's grand mother who thronged the Kotoka International Airport, according to the National Theatre. They also indicated their eagerness to join the Key Soap WHO IS WHO competition that is blazing with so much excitement and surprises, the release said.

Asaase Aban, reported to have carried 40 balls of "Fante kenkey" and a dozen shirts, said he was ready for the weather and diet differences that he would find in Canada.

Anansekrom remains one of the popular cultural events with a Ghanaian flavour in Western countries today. Held annually, the event has seen performances by some of the great names in show business in and out of Ghana. Undisputed local comedy champions like Nkomode and Bob Okalla have had the opportunity to grace the Anansekrom stage. The Anansekrom concept was modelled on similar concepts in Ghana.

Meanwhile, this year's Key Soap WHO IS WHO competition enters the second quarterfinals tomorrow Saturday, September15. Akwasi Ampofo Adjei (AAA) and his band will provide the music. The comedians and concert party groups for the day are expected to draw lots of laughter, thrills and education.
