Ho, Oct. 4, GNA - The Asogli State Council has called off this year's state durbar to climax its annual yam festival scheduled for Saturday October seven.
The durbar was to have taken place on Saturday September 30, but coincided with the sixth congregation of the Ho Polytechnic during which Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama commissioned a number of projects at the Polytechnic.
Announcing the decision on behalf of the Council at Press Conference on Tuesday, Togbe Afele II, Chief of Hliha, said the custodians of the customary rites of the Asogli state ruled that October seven was customarily inauspicious for such the event. He said in place of the durbar, all the divisions in the Asogli State would hold their separate meetings that day to deliberate on development and other issues to be followed by refreshments. Togbe Afele said in future, all state institutions within the Asogli state would be informed at the beginning of each year not to organise events to coincide with the yam festival durbars. He apologized to the sponsors of the event and invited guests for the inconvenience.
Present were Togbe Dekortsu II, Afetorfia of Ho-Heve, Togbe Adzimah IV, Atamfia of the Agbogbomefia, Zikpuitor Akpo and Togbe Dedey II, Afetorfia of Ho-Dome. 04 Oct. 06
