Award winning highlife musician, Bisa Kdei has described the movie soundtrack ‘Azonto Ghost’ as his breakthrough song.
He disclosed this in an interview with Mic Gizo on the Showbiz Review on Hitz FM, Saturday.
The ‘Metanfo’ hit maker was reacting to assertions that he has brought competition to Akwaboah and Kwabena Kwabena.
“I’m not in a competition with anybody, I’m just doing music to impress, to change life, and also to make people happy. So I don’t think there is a competition, and everybody is doing their own thing”.
Commenting on his nominations at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, he said: “It feels good to be recognized, because it’s not easy to get to this stage, and I am here just by the grace of God.”
Mic Gizo went on to ask him if he felt he should be in the Male Vocalist of the Year category.
“I don’t know the criteria but I feel I should be in the Male Vocalist of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year categories.”
Giving reasons why he should be in all those categories, Bisa said “I know the VGMA is not an Accra music awards, it's Ghana music awards, so I just want to ask if the awards scheme is based on only artiste that play shows here in Accra. Because I have been on a lot of shows in and out of Accra, does it mean I don’t qualify to be in that category?
“So I need an explanation…..somehow I feel disappointed when I see these things because am also an artiste, not that am doing this for an award but it feels good to be appreciated, If all artiste opt out because of these things, who are you going to nominate?”
Bisa was nominated in the Highlife Artiste of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Highlife Song of the Year categories.
He is known for hit songs like ‘Odo Carpenter’, ‘Metanfo’, ‘Give It To Baba’, ‘I Love You’ amongst others.
