Rapper Shaker is among top Ghanaian musicians who are expected to pick laurels at the 2018 edition of the prestigious Ghana Music Awards UK.
He has been nominated for best rapper of the year category of the award ceremony, and he is up against equally good rappers like Sarkodie, Strongman, Kwesi Arthur, Yaa Pono, Kwesi Arthur and FlowKing Stone.
The full list of nominations was officially released days ago, with the late Ebony Reigns dominating the list.
The main award ceremony will take place in the UK at the Gaumont Palace (Dominion Centre) Wood Green, London, on October 6, 2018.
The event which seeks to recognise the achievements of Ghanaian musicians in Ghana and the UK had other artistes like Kidi, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, R2Bees, Kumi Guitar, Patapaa, Samini, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy all getting nominations.
Though nomination alone is a good feat for artistes, Shaker is hopeful to win his category as he is currently one of the best rap talents around.
The nomination follows recent reports that he and his label mate, Kojo Cue, will be performing alongside American legend Ms Lauryn Hill as they join her on tour this year.
Lauryn Hill’s 20th anniversary tour is to celebrate her highly-acclaimed ‘Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ album.
The tour, which takes off in July, will also have guest appearances from Nas, Dave Chappelle, Busta Rhymes, with artistes such as Kojo Cue and Shaker supporting on some of the dates. There will also be performances from Mr Eazi, Patoranking, among others.
The nomination is, therefore, definitely a good vibe for Shaker.
