“Bandex's 9-Year-Old Son Is Already A Movie Star ”- Majid

Rahim Banda, 9, son of Ghanaian music/movie producer Ahmed Banda, made an unforgettable impression in his debut flick, The Beast, a Venus Films production.

Though he only appeared in one scene, reactions from movie fans who attended the Siverbird Cinema premier and actors were of positive praises for his performance considering his age. “His great dialogue delivery and natural acting skills makes him very promising”, describes a colleague Journalist; top actor, Majid Michel concurs.

According to a Venus source, the original script for the movie didn't include the scene where an 8-year old stabs his Dad. The source said, that plot was to be communicated via dialogue, but upon seeing the boy on set, co-actor Majid recommended he (Rahim) actually depicted the scene in the movie.

The script had to be edited to make space for the boy. Majid further went on to describe Rahim as “the next big thing” Rahim is the last child and only son of Bandex. His dad discovered the son's penchant for acting so decided to invest GHC25,000 in a movie, “Masters of the Game”, just to have him play the lead.

Promising Nigerian Director Pascal Amanfo refused to direct the script because he didn't believe the boy could nail the role. Another Nigerian director, Phil Benard directed the movie and said the boy was fun to work. John Dumelo who also stars in the movie would later described him as: “A good actor, with zero trouble working with.”

The Glow Lamp School (Accra) pupil played a computer wizard who is used by an internet fraudster (played by John Dumelo) to defraud people up to 5 million dollars. The story takes a twist when the fraudster decides to cheat him after the money has come. Juliet Ibrahim played his mother and Kalsoume Sinare is his grandmother.
