Baptist Students Union launches album

Reverend S.O. Lamptey, Assistant Superintendent Minister of the Calvary Baptist Church in Accra has called on Christians to use music as a modern means of communicating with God.

Rev. Lamptey made the call at the launch of cassette album dubbed 'Awurade eei" in Accra on Sunday. The album, produced by Baptist Students Union of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has five songs on each side.

Some of the songs are 'Awurade Ne Me Hann', 'I wanna be Holy' and 'The Lord is my Shepherd'. Rev. Lamptey said music plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the country.

"It is used to support, it is used to educate, it is used to comfort and it is used to encourage", he added. Edward Kwaku Asare, Music Director of the union, said the union launched the album to enable them to generate funds for its activities. The first copy was auctioned for four million cedis.
