Barber jailed 24 months for stealing pregnant sheep

Takoradi, May 19, GNA - Takoradi Circuit Court "B" on Thursday sentenced Muntaka Mohammed, a 25-year-old barber to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a pregnant sheep valued at 600,000 cedis.

The accused pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Gabriel Kobla Agbemava, said on May 15, the accused accompanied a friend who is a stove mechanic to the house of Dorothy Akyin Sackey, a retired nursing officer, at East Tanokraom to repair a gas cooker.

The following day, the accused returned to the house alone and stole the animal. He put the sheep in a large bag and took it to Takoradi market circle to sell.

But someone who saw him stealing the sheep followed him to market circle and informed the Police who arrested him.
