Accra, Sept 6, GNA - Functional Keys Limited, event planner in collaboration with the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) has initiated a beauty pageant dubbed: “Miss Road Safety” to select a road safety ambassador.
A statement signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday by Mr Franklin Ayew-Williams, for Head of Publicity and Marketing said 20 intelligent Ghanaian ladies between the ages of 18 and 30, were selected from the 10 regions to contest for the crown.

The statement said as part of the competition, the contestants would pay a visit to the accident unit of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital to witness how appalling it was to be victimised by road traffic crashes and also to the NRSC for insight into the project.
“This event does not only seek to project a personality who will use her influence as an ambassador to boost sponsorships and participation for road safety projects but also to show the… public how they could positively impact road safety,” it added.
It said the country was lucky to have a Commission dedicated to instituting well researched policies and programmes toward ensuring road safety, noting that road safety was a share and collective responsibility which should be upheld by all.
It called on corporate institutions and individuals to continue to find initiatives to improve on road safety.
The statement also urged drivers to be careful when driving at night and reduce their speed limits when approaching human dwellings
