Becca Steals Show @ Red Lipstick Concert

October 29, 2012 marked a whole new beginning for women empowerment as the maiden edition of the Red Lipstick Concert shook the foundations of the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.

The all-female concert, aimed at singing away breast cancer, had on the bill some of the most powerful female voices this country has ever seen, ranging from back-in-the-day Akosua Agyapong to soul singer Efya.

Stealing the show however was the sensational Afro-pop singer Rebecca Acheampong aka Becca. The svelte singer set the excited audience into a frenzy as she treated them to an unforgettable performance. As usual, her ability to pull and control crowd were at play, and so was her amazing stagecraft.

Equally electrifying was her collaboration with Samini, performing the hit song ‘Fire’. ‘Fire’- a blend between afro-pop and dancehall, was the right rhythm to get fans on their feet, moving and grooving to the beat. Perhaps her best stage act yet, Becca was unsurpassable as she was able to thrill music fans beyond their expectation.

The ‘Push’ hit-maker performed renditions of some of her hit-tracks such as ‘Daa Ke Da’ and ‘You Lied To Me’.

The other stunning divas deserve a round of applause for their equally amazing performances. Ghana’s female rapper, Eazzy, did not fail to impress; let’s ‘Bonsam ma no’ for her on-point lyrics and entertaining dance steps. The night also witnessed stellar performances by Bertha, Efya and Irene Logan. If getting intoxicated on silky smooth voices was a possibility, then these three divas could make it happen.

They charmed the audience, as usual, with their individual flavours and styles, and got the entire audience singing along.

Giving the younger ones a run for their money was Akosua Agyapong. Proving that years in the industry put her in a league of her own, Akosua sang and danced to the utter delight of her fans. And of course, she didn’t fail to dish out her infamous robotic dance moves.

Also making the all-female-powered show a success were Sherifa, Mzbel and Mimi, who rocked the Dome with their various hit songs.
