Becca fights manager

Information reaching Beatwaves indicates that there is alleged strife at EKB Records, one of the leading record labels in the country.

The alleged conflict is between an artiste on the label, Becca, and Mr. Emmanuel Kiki Banson, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the record company.

The impasse, according to a source close to EKB, has to do with a supposed attempt by the CEO to sign Becca onto another record label.

The source said though plans were far advanced for the CEO to append his signature to finalise the deal, Becca was not in agreement with the move and has openly confronted Kiki.

Available information indicates that Mr. Banson was in South Africa recently to negotiate with a South Africa-based record label which is said to be a subsidiary of US-based Motown Records, to sign on the prolific songstress.

It is believed that the multi-national company, which sees great potential in Becca is prepared to cough up a whopping $500,000 to get her off EKB Records.

Indeed, Mr Banson, who might have been attracted by the mouth-watering deal, is all for it, while Becca is said to have kicked against it.

In an interview with Becca, she related that though her ultimate aim as an artist was to make a mark on the international scene, she felt there was still more experience to gain.

“I think I still have a lot to learn from my current managers as far as my personal development is concerned. Though I’m not against the idea of being signed onto the world-acclaimed label, I believe it is too early in the day”.

According to Becca, though the money involved in the deal is significant, she feels she might not have the chance to perform to the best of her ability once she appends her signature to the contract.

She cited young and talented footballers, who she said followed money abroad and ended up warming the benches of their teams instead of being given the chance to play and demonstrate their skill.

“Though I have for a long time believed in the good judgments of my manager, I do not think I can agree with him this time round. I still have a lot to learn and upgrade myself before moving on.”

However, attempts to get Kiki Banson to give his side of the story proved futile. Stay tuned for more.
