Ghanaian songstress, Becca, says though she has not been regular in church activities like she used to, she still remains ‘a church rat’.

Born Rebecca Akosua Acheampong, Becca unearth her musical talent at an early age through the Trinity Baptist Church choir where she was religiously involved in church activities.

But the ‘African woman’ hit-maker revealed her musical career has taken the greater part of her, noting she has not be as regular she used to be but makes up for it whenever she’s in town for a long.

“I still am a church rat and I sang at my church, Trinity Baptist Church, on Saturday even though it’s not as regular as before,” she told Miriam Osei Agyemang, host of 3FM mid-morning show, Urban Blend on Monday.

This was when she appeared on the show to talk about her music.

According to Becca, she had a band in the church that used to perform at church but said notwithstanding her busy schedule, she still finds time once in a while to perform with the band when she is in town.

No bad blood between my father and I

Asked about her relationship with her father, the songstress described her father as her best friend at the moment, noting that her father wanted her to become a lawyer but rather ended up with a musical career due to her passion for music.

“My father and I are best of friends and he loves my music now and I wish someone could see us talking and giggling. He sings ‘Hwe’ all the time and anytime he hears it on radio, he calls me to tell me my song is being played on radio,” she said. She denied ever having a bad relationship with her father, noting people twisted the fact that she became a musician as against her father’s wish for her to have become a lawyer to mean there was a bad blood between them.

“My father wanted me to be a lawyer but unfortunately for him I decided to do music which is fortunate for me. I think it’s beautiful to do law because I always talk about it I think I prefer to be in music because that is a passion and that is what I prefer to do”.
