Beg me before I accept appointment - Maurice Ampaw tells Akufo-Addo

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Controversial Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has stated that he will only accept political appointment from the Akufo-Addo’s government if he is begged to do so.

He said his expertise is one in a million and that the presidency needs to beg him to work with them.

Speaking with Ike De-Unpredictable on Abusua Drive he debunked claims that he uses his political affiliation with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win hot court cases.

He said he does not believe in political parties saying they easily whither away and majority of them live like paupers when out of power.

Lawyer Ampaw asserted that though he voted for the President in the 2016 elections, he is not an NPP supporter but believed in their ideaologies.

‘I am not an NPP member, I would have been appointed by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo long ago to win occupy a position, if I were to be one. Or I would have won a contract for myself. I am an independent person who expresses his opinion on issues. Former President John Dramani Mahama is pitied because he is out of power, Nana Addo will also be in the same soup when he is kicked out of power in either 2020 or 2024.

‘President Akufo-Addo should beg me before I accept any appointment, working for the country is a service, so if I am to serve the country, the President should come forward to beg me by writing an application letter asking me to serve in his government,’ he stated.

He indicated that he will not beg for appointment and that he prefers to be appointed into the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to give women legal education.
