Highlife legend, Ben Brako is unenthused about the organization of this year’s Ghana Music Week Festival.

The musician who performed during the launch of the event at Alliance Francaise, Accra over the weekend was not impressed with attendance as he mentioned that the event should have recorded relatively huge numbers.

Mr. Brako told GhanaWeb that the size of the audience was a clear indication that the event was poorly publicized, adding that the venue was a wrong choice.

According to him, the event should have been held at a venue which could attract ‘ordinary people’ instead of the elite.

“I have done shows here and the venue was full to capacity. How come we are doing Ghana Music Week and the venue isn’t full? There is something not right and I’m not happy about it,” he said.

The ‘Mawie’ hit maker further intimated that the songs played at the event were not Ghanaian and wondered why a program meant to promote Ghanaian music would be punctuated with foreign genres.

“This is to promote our traditional music. When you go to America, they don’t play African music. We are proud that we know international music but we don’t know our traditional music. It’s a sad state of affairs,” he noted.
