Ghanaian gospel musician Brother Sammy has sparked controversy with his bold stance on betting, lotto, and so on, asserting that none of these are sinful.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz last Saturday, the ‘Nation’s Worshipper’ urged Christians to stop using religion to intimidate others over lifestyle choices.
He emphasised that while many people pray for financial breakthroughs, they often overlook betting as a legitimate means of quick income.
Brother Sammy also criticised the hypocrisy of some pastors who condemn betting while allowing their children to participate in American lotteries.
According to Brother Sammy, although he has never placed a bet himself, he stated, “I wouldn’t preach against it,” mentioning that he knows someone who has contributed to church-building efforts through their betting earnings.
Also, the ‘Nyame Nhyira’ hitmaker addressed how individuals with tattoos and piercings are being judged unfairly.
“When boys with tattoos and piercings enter churches, they are often met with judgmental eyes. It’s not fair. They judge Rastafarians but allow women to wear weaves and synthetic hair,” he established.
Brother Sammy made it clear that he has rejected societal norms that restrict personal freedom and will also continue to state his views on building wealth as a Christian.
