Big Brother All Stars- Nomination Recap

Monday was just the first day of M-Net’s Big Brother All Stars – and already, it was nomination time!

The housemates spent some time getting to know each other on Sunday night as dancehall superstar Sean Paul chilled with them in the house. All the housemates know the game inside out - and the mind-games are already in full swing! The housemates were told about how their game of secrets was to work, which only added to the drama.

After an entertaining first evening where they shared a few drinks and caught up, the housemates had a late start on Monday morning. Late they may have been, but their awakening was a rude one as Big Brother immediately started summoning them to the Diary Room for nominations. Once everyone had had their say – or in Mwisho’s case, not much to say – it was Lerato and Mwisho who gathered the most nominations. Big Brother, never shy of a twist, didn’t tell the housemates who their nominations had put in the firing line and instead announced that all housemates were up for eviction this week.

During their Nomination Sessions, a few of the housemates had trouble remembering the names of the people they wanted to nominate, while others already seem to have a firm handle on who needs to go!

· Jennifer was the first sleepy housemate to be summoned to the Diary Room for nominations. After a pause, she named Sheila as her first pick because “she is just too much” and Code, whom she called a “random selection”.

· Code nominated Yacob, with whom he feels he has no connection and then cited strategy behind his second name – Mwisho. Code feels that Mwisho is a “strong candidate” who is “not going anywhere.

· Mwisho, curiously, was unable to nominate anyone despite being prompted a few times by Big Brother – meaning that he automatically goes up for eviction himself! He couldn’t make a choice, even requesting a second look at his housemates. When Big Brother declined, he claimed to not know anyone’s names, putting himself directly in the firing line.

· Sammi also struggled for a while to name his fellow housemates, eventually falling back on descriptions of his nomination candidates for this week. He put the "Mozambican girl with a tattoo" (Jennifer) up because he hasn’t gotten to know her and "something'ton” (Hannington) because he hadn't yet bonded with the Ugandan.

· Lerato had difficulty deciding on her nominations – but after much deliberation, she put up Jen and Mwisho. Lerato isn’t sure about Jennifer’s reserved nature, while she plumped for Mwisho because “someone else had to be nominated”.

· Kaone was very forthright in his nominations – he’s clearly put some thought into it! He nominated Lerato because he felt he did not get along very well with her and then Meryl because she is friends with Lerato.

· Nominations seemingly caught Hannington by surprise – but even though he said he hadn’t had any time to think about it and claimed not to have any particular reason, he didn't hesitate to nominate Paloma and Lerato.

· After much thought, Meryl nominated Sammi and Jennifer. She felt that Sammi's age and his lack of connection with her counted against him while she nominated Jen because she found her very reserved.

· Munya reasoned that Paloma is hard to trust, making her an easy nomination pick, while he couldn’t find a reason for nominating Sammi.

· Paloma played it safe, naming Sheila without a reason, saying that the Kenyan’s name was just the first that came to mind. She chose Sammi for a similar reason, saying that he was the first male housemate to pop into her head.

· Yacob and Tatiana took their turn in the Diary Room individually and agreed on one thing – Lerato was a common nomination for them. Tatiana’s second nomination was for Yacob as she felt there was “something fishy” about him and thinks that he is hiding something. Her reason for nominating Lerato was that she recalled the South African being tough competition during her previous stint in the game. Yacob’s second nomination went to Code, because he hadn’t had an opportunity to talk to him since they walked through the big blue doors. His reasoning for nominating Lerato was that she comes across as being too strong and opinionated.

· Uti was almost as surprised as Hannington that nomination time had arrived already. After pondering his choice of a housemate to put up for eviction, Uti finally nominated Yacob and Paloma! He feels that he and Yacob don’t have much to say to each other and chose Paloma because he feels she is a threat.

· An apprehensive Sheila told Big Brother that she should have spent time getting to know her fellow housemates instead of drinking whisky on night 1! Finally, she picked Hannington but then changed her mind and settled for Lerato because she had no one else to nominate. She then named Sammi as her second choice, because in her opinion, he will bounce back!

With the nominations now in, will Big Brother have a surprise for the housemates on Sunday night?
