Comic actor Bismark The Joke is the freshest entrant to Ghana’s Akan movie industry as he casts with top Kumawood stars in an upcoming Twi movie, 'Man Pass Man'.
The production is by Okyeame Quophi’s Emklan Production and would be released later this year, according to industry sources.
Bismark announced last week that he was on set with Kwaku Manu when he shared photos of himself and the Kumawood actor on Instagram, urging his followers to wait for their production.
“Wait for it,” he said. With this, Bismark joins the likes of Van Vicker, Prince David Osei, Juliet Ibrahim and a few other English actors who have taken a jump into Kumawood.
Different interpretations have been given to the decision of these actors to work in Kumawood. But most of them see it as a way of uniting stakeholders in the movie industry.
Bismark is currently one of Ghana’s award-winning comic actors. He started acting from senior high school. But prior to gaining the spotlight, he had to work as props assistant.
“I did a lot of props for productions with my boss. Later, he said he was not interested in it anymore so I became my own boss by the grace of God,” he once told NEWS-ONE.
So far he has featured in movies such as Single Six, Turn Me On, Bachelors, Devil In A Dress, Accra Runs, Cheaters Book1&2, What My Wife Doesn’t Know, Sisters At War, Last Word (London), Bismark The Joke (London) and If Tomorrow Never Comes. He has also featured in some TV series and music videos of some of the country’s outstanding musicians.
