Blakk Rasta, Ras Kimono, others thrill fans at La Beach

The much-anticipated Kochoko Roots Festival has again come and gone.

All the artistes billed for the event held last Saturday at the La Beach were at their best as they put up impressive live musical performances to climax Ghana’s 58th Independence Day celebration.

There were fantastic performances from international reggae stars like Blakk Rasta, Ras Kimono, Majek Fashek, Hamed Faras, Ras Kuuku and Kwame Bediako.

The reggae musical festival attracted a large number of music fans from all walks of life, and the organiser was able to transform the show into a ‘must see’ programme on the entertainment calendar in and around Accra.

The event also witnessed performances from supporting acts including Felix Jahno, Osagyefo, Ras Kuuku, Rymzo and Papa Wastik and a host of others who mounted the stage one after the other to thrill fans with their various hit songs.

When Ras Kimono mounted the huge stage at 10:00pm, the crowd wondered what the big belly crooner was capable of, but in no time, he rocked the whole venue with an energetic performance which wowed everybody.

His ‘Under Pressure’ hit song was evergreen when he dropped it and caused the whole festival to tremble with energy. He was splendid on the night.

Blakk Rasta came up next carried on stage by overly ‘irie’ reggae fans, having waited for long to see their reggae iocn on stage. During his stage performance, he took his fans on a journey into the recent past, entertaining them with a good number of his hit songs. Blakk Rasta sang and danced as he worked the crowd into a frenzy.

MCs were Culture B, Countryman Songo, Conscious Queen of Pink FM and Daddy Bosco.
