The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) board on Saturday released the nominees list for this year’s edition of the scheme, triggering conversation among music enthusiasts.

Who merited; who didn’t? The board after reviewing the 632 submissions indeed has proven it has balls as it enforced the ban on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

Songs which featured any of the two artistes were not considered for the Best Collaboration of the Year category. The board has explained that both artistes are not eligible for the scheme, and since featured acts are given plaques, a nomination would have been a violation of the rules.

The exclusion of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has obviously paved way for some reggae/dancehall acts to occupy spots in the reggae/dancehall categories.

Does their absence make the categories the weakest?

Away from the VGMAs, is Okyeame Kwame suing Gyedu-Blay Ambolley after the latter refused to retract and apologise for making some comments the former deemed defamatory?

Ambolley had stated without any equivocation on 3FM that he had evidence that former president of the union Bice Osei Kuffuor (Obour) gave Okyeame Kwame, Ben Brako and other friends of his GHS 50,000 each from the GHS 2m fiscal budget money which was given to the union by the government in 2012.

After he was served with a notice to retract or face legal suit, Ambolley says he stands by his words.

Abrantepa sits with David Mawuli of pulse.com.gh and Jibriel Suliah Jagbesie of Ghkasa.com on Blogger’s Forum for a discussion.
