Bluecrest University holds fashion show for graduating students

The Bluecrest University College under the Department of School of Fashion and Design on Saturday held a glitz and glamour fashion show for its graduating students to display their exquisite designs to the public.

The show dubbed: “Graduate Showcase”, was to give the students the platform to exhibit their skills and expertise through their collections after going through the course.

The graduating students which comprised of certificate, diploma and degree students mounted the stage to showcase clothing styles they had designed.

They exhibited samples of their artistic clothing designs at a well decorated stage by the students to the delight of their audience amidst clapping.

Mr Rajesh Kumar Pillai, Head of Department, Fashion and Design in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the sidelines of the event said the event was part of the school’s course requirement for the students to showcase a collection of their designs on what they had learnt.

Mr Pillai was satisfied with the performance of the students, but there was more improvement, adding that the whole stage, set-up, make-up, back-drop and the music were all designed by the students.

He said the department started with seven students, but had now increased to 350 students becoming one of the best fashion and design schools in the country.

Mr Pillai said the department since its establishment had produced strong set of talented designers, serving the needs of society with beautiful collection of designs both in and outside the country.

He said the Department had showcased on various established platforms including, arts exhibitions, seminars and the Ghana Fashion Awards to exhibit their brands and experience of fashion in the competitive world of business.

He advised them to make good use of what they had studied since the fashion and design industry was a multi-billion industry and must be tapped and harnessed well.
