Books fair opens at KNUST

Kumasi, Feb 23, GNA - A six-day book fair was on Monday opened at the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The fair, which is being organised by the EPP Books Services in collaboration with the Bookshop Management Committee of KNUST, is aimed at increasing access of tertiary books to students on the campus. It is also to encourage the academic staff to make samples of books available and select those that could be of benefit to their research and teaching work.

Opening the fair, Professor S.K. Agbozo, Chairman of the KNUST Bookshop Management Committee, said the fair was an opportunity for the students and faculty members to have access to information that would be beneficial to their work.

He therefore urged the students and academic staff to take advantage of the opportunity and buy books for themselves. Dr (Mrs) Eva Tagoe-Darko, KNUST Bookshop Manager, said the KNUST bookshop was being upgraded to make it more attractive to students and staff.

She advised the students to take the opportunity to buy books and build their own libraries.

Miss Stella Teyegaga, Marketing Executive of the EPP Books Services, said the vision of the company was to make tertiary books readily available to students on the campus to read.

She said the fair was to create awareness among the students and lecturers on the wide range of books and research materials the company had which would be of great benefit to their work.
