After unsuccessful attempts to stop hubby, Jerry John Rawlings from attending the 24th anniversary celebration of the ruling National Democratic Congress, former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has decided to go for the kill, The aL-hAJJ can today report.
Days before the successful celebration of the governing party's colorful 24th anniversary, sources at the Ridge and Adjiriganor residences of the former first couple told this paper, that Nana Konadu, who has now become the fiercest enemy of his husband’s party, had warned the former military strong man not to attend the function to give credence to John Mahama’s continued stay in office.
However, Mr Rawlings, the source intimated, called her bluff and attended the programme at the party’s Adabraka headquarters. The NDC founder also delivered one of his best speeches ever which resonated with the rank and file of the party to the chagrin of the 2016 flag bearer of National Democratic Party.
The source told The aL-hAJJ, Mr Rawlings’ conduct infuriated the former first lady, who has decided to publicly show resentment to her hubby’s conduct by going ballistic on the Mahama administration.
Not even the demise of President Mahama’s mother could dissuade Nana Konadu from her diabolic agenda against the NDC government of which her first daughter, Dr Zanetor Rawlings is representing in the Klottey Korle constituency as its 2016 parliamentary candidate.
Hours after the announcement of the passing of the president’s mother, Nana Konadu in a prerecorded speech on Facebook, is heard running down the Mahama administration, calling for its replacement in the upcoming November election.
The NDP founder cited the Electricity Company of Ghana’s over-billing of some Ghanaians due to faulty prepaid meters as part of her reasons for her call.
According to her, the government has woefully failed in improving the lives of Ghanaians and therefore must not be given another chance to further inflict untold hardship on the citizenry.
“…The other thing that I think we should look at critically is the metering of electricity. How do you get somebody who has no clue about what kind of meters to bring into this country, to bring prepaid meters, faulty prepaid meters and force them on poor innocent Ghanaians. Why? You are discouraging us from making good use of what we have by bringing in faulty meters, this is totally unacceptable and for me on just this alone we must vote NDC out, Ghanaians, vote them out,” she stated.
Despite her vitriolic attacks on the president and the NDC, Nana Konadu shamelessly accompanied her husband, Mr Rawlings, daughter, Dr Zanetor Rawlings and other family members to ‘console’ President Mahama on the loss of his mother.
Deep throat sources at the former first family’s residences disclosed to The aL-hAJJ that it took the intervention of some close family elders to persuade Mrs Rawlings to join her husband and aspiring MP-daughter to President Mahama’s residence.
The former first lady, the source added, is so embittered by her husband’s conduct that she had allegedly vow to launch scathing attacks on President Mahama and the NDC to scuttle its chances of retaining power in the November polls.
