Budding actor, Harold Amenyah gets his break on XoXo

Budding Ghanaian actor, Harold Amenyah may have finally found his lucky break on season one of the TV comedy-drama series, XoXo which aired on Viasat 1; and now showing on Homebase TV on Sundays at 8pm.

The series revolves around his character –Josh - a national service person who is torn between three ladies; one a wife material who he ignores to please Golda, a materialistic lover he found. Just when he thinks he had found love in Golda, then comes Isabella.

His relationship with the three ladies creates exciting situations together with the other characters on the series. “XOXO is my biggest role so far but very comfortable since I can relate to the Josh character,” said Harold, who is also a graduate of the University of Ghana with a bachelor’s degree in Economics with Mathematics. With season two of XoXo on the cards, he hopes to evolve with his character on the show and also land more challenging roles in other productions that would hone his acting skills.

Acting started for him when he expressed the interest to act to an actress friend, who had at the time featured in the Sparrow Productions’ movie, ‘Scorned’. His friend later hinted him about an audition at Sparrow Productions for their next movie. He recounts, “I auditioned and was first given the opportunity to play a very minor role in 'A Sting in a Tale' back in 2009.”

Harold then went on to play the character of Tee, a friend to Alvin (Majid Michel) in ‘4play reloaded’ in 2010. In 2011, he acted in Double D's 'All My Tears’ where he played the role of a doctor who had inherited his father's hospital alongside actors like John Dumelo, Beverly Afaglo and Prince David. Before XOXO he had already featured in other TV series such as ‘Peep’ and 'Living with Tricia'.

After a good running, Harold took a break from acting to focus on the demands of his studies until he completed his degree course. He is currently working as an accounts intern with an Oil/gas company in Accra, hoping to move into full time acting soon.

It seems Ghana will be seeing a lot more of Harold, who hinted, “I have received a couple of scripts since XOXO which I'll be working on soon; among which is Season 2 of 'My home' another miniseries on Viasat1. I hope to venture into TV/event hosting soon.”
