ABU Light Heavyweight title belt holder, Bukom Banku, is crossing over into the music business - and particularly to do hiplife music. Going under the same alias "Bukom Banku," Bukom Banku is coming full force, letting his boxing fans, Ghanaian music lovers and the world know that he is good in rapping and singing in the Ga dialect.
"People know me as a boxer from Bukom. I never wanted to be a boxer but rather a musician. Because I was a courageous boy, I decided to enter the boxing arena, Bukom Banku explains.
On his untitled debut album, the Ghanaian boxer can boast of production from the A-list sound engineer and producer, Jay Q, as well as guest appearances from Shilo, Screwface, and Castro who are artistes he admires a lot.
As Bukom prepares for his release, the demo single "Banku Eba" is beginning to pick up in different areas of the nation, and has finally landed in the hands of Q Lex Entertainment who have decided to produce him.
Bukom Banku has for some time now enjoyed some media hype on ‘Thank God It’s Friday’, ‘Toli.com’, Efiewura and almost all the radio stations in Accra.
Bukom’s entrance into the music industry does not mean he is quitting boxing but is gearing for a fight on the 27th September with a Ghanaian opponent and hopes to become a world champion, and also make it big with his album on the international music market.
Recognized by his loyal fans because of his ‘klu brofo’ that he speaks nowadays, Bukom Banku tells us that he really likes the song ‘Toffee’ that was done by Castro.
“Am OK with the music am doing and I feel good about it. Most of my songs will be about love. I know God will give me the breakthrough", Bukom Banku explains further.
