Ghanaian dancehall artiste, J Derobie, has said had it not been for the sports betting industry in Ghana, many young boys and men would have gone into armed robbery to survive.

The Nungua-based artiste, who became popular when he auditioned for Mr Eazi's emPawa 100 project, was speaking on the Class Drive (CD) on Class91.3FM on Friday, 27 September 2019.

J. Derobie, who is the face of one of the sports betting companies in Ghana, told show host Prince Benjamin (Chauffeur PB) that: “Betting is good, betting is good. It has helped most of the youth, it has pushed some of them from stealing and all that”, adding: “You know, if it weren't for betting, some [young] people would be on the streets stealing and robbing”.

“So, the betting is good; that's what I think”, he stressed.

Born Derrick Obobbie, the dancehall artiste was on the CD to promote his new song titled "Odo Bra".
