CNC to market nation's culture during Asogli Yam festival

Ho, Sept. 14, GNA - The Volta Regional office of the Centre for National Culture is poised to market Ghana's rich cultural diversities during this year's Asogli Yam Festival.

Mr William Addo, Volta Regional Director of the Centre told the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Monday that, the Centre was taking advantage of the influx of foreign tourists to the Ho Municipality for the festival, to promote artistic works and other aspects of the nation's culture, including drumming and dancing. He said though under resourced, the Centre was determined to play a major role in this year's Yam Festival to sell and project the nation's culture.

He said the Centre's theatre would be opened for cultural activities during the festival to showcase the carvings and other artistic works at its craft shop, as well as the performances of various traditional dances.

Mr Addo observed that tourists were finding it difficult to locate artisans for artistic works in the town and was hopeful that the Centre would in future have an ultra-modern craft market to house all artisans to help in the marketing of their works.
