Those who had always advocated the revival of Ghanaian comedy should be wreathed in smiles because Corporate Comedy Series, a comedy show that started successfully in December last year, is to be staged for the second time, Flex newspaper has learnt.
Corporate Comedy Series, which was founded by David Oscar of Viasat 1's comedy show ''Laugh a Minute'' and TV3's series ''Peep'' fame, had its first edition staged at the Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel on 23rd December last year.
The show targeted at the corporate market had high patronage not to talk of the coruscating performances by the various comedy acts. No wonder it was rated by arts mavens as one of the best comedy shows ever held in Ghana.
As earlier promised by David Oscar, the CCS is going to be a quarterly affair, hence the second edition coming on 6th March, 2012 at Mac Dic Royal Plaza Hotel.
Asked why the venue was not changed to a different region, David answered, ''it is not as though we are neglecting other regions. We are going to have a roadshow, going to all the regions but we are making sure that it gets firm footing here, before we spread our tentacles. Trust me very soon the Comedy Series will be in the other regions''.
For those who thought there were few comedians in Ghana, David says he is using this platform to introduce to the whole world some equally good comedians who are not yet in the limelight.
Apart from Aglah, Percy, Tickle Me, James Brown, Foster, and Khemikal who were on the show last year, patrons will have a feel other great talents like DKB, Michael Tagoe, Nii Tete and Legend. There will also be a jazzy saxophone performance by Big Godwin.
This could be the renaissance of Ghanaian comedy, entertainment connoisseurs have projected.
