Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has been captured on the streets of Kasoa with a tray of watermelons balanced on her head.
In a bid to showcase her campaign style, similar to other politicians this season, Hawa Koomson was spotted interacting with her constituents while selling the melons.
Dressed in casual wear, blue jeans, and a red top, the controversial politician even distributed some of the watermelons. This act was aimed at connecting with the grassroots and engaging with her constituents on a personal level.
The development, however, has since garnered reactions from netizens, with some commending her free-spirited personality while others have condemned politicians for displaying such antics only during campaign season.
Earlier, popular media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, condemned politicians for using superficial campaign tactics, such as performing household chores, to win over constituents, calling it manipulative.
She strongly criticised the trend of politicians engaging in activities like braiding hair, fanning fires, and washing clothes during election campaigns solely to gain favor with voters.
She also urged constituents to challenge such politicians with extensive tasks, even involving the entire neighbourhood if necessary, should they attempt such tactics again.
