Call it a cliché and you will not be far from wrong as Kumasi has gradually lost its presence in the Ghanaian music industry.
But for few musicians such as Okyeame Kwame, Bradez, Cabum and perhaps Lousika, the touch would have been totally gone.
Unlike early days when mention could be made of converted Lord Kenya, Akyeame, Akatakyie, Kontihene, Okomfour Kwadee and many others who made very great impact nationwide, same cannot be said about the Garden City now.
However, reggae and dancehall artist Rexford Kojo Amoah known by the masses as Shatta Rako has promised to bring back the shine with his yet to be released albums
Rako who spoke to NY DJ on Kapital Radio’s drive time show, Homestretch, described how pathetic it is to sit back and look at situations go worse but has promised to turn things around as he plans releasing a double album.
According to Shatta Rako, the double album will comprise of a CD with his classical remixes of old high life songs and the other CD full of his original songs.
With most of his singles such as Wosisi Ananse, One Ghana and many others already enjoying massive airplay nationwide, he is tipped by many industry players as a real force to save the face of Kumasi.
Shatta Rako who admitted to being a bit laid back in promoting his music has promised to work earnestly to give the needed attention to his music and lift the image of Kumasi.
