Canada To Mint New Ghana Coins

I saw a story tonight on the CBC about the Canadian Mint and its revolutionary plating process which allows a nickel alloy to be plated onto zinc wihout creating biohazardous waste. This is also cost efficient since it allows cheaper metals to be used for the bulk of the coin.

One example of a coin they showed - using this process - was the new 50 pesewa piece for Ghana.

Although I couldn't find anything more about the Canada Mint and Ghana, it appears that the Canada Mint makes coins for over 65 countries.
