10 years of hiplife music has been celebrated once again this year but this time by an Accra-based radio station, Citi (97.3 FM). In July this year it was recognized through series of concerts organized by EZ Promotions.
Last week Citi (97.3 FM) hosted over forty hiplife artistes at a party held at the forecourt of His Majesty’s Night Club to celebrate the decade of hiplife music.
The event was to create a platform for the musicians and other players in the music industry to forge partnerships, share ideas and strategize on how to move hiplife to a higher level and most importantly give hiplife the international recognition it deserves.
The event dubbed “Celebration of Hiplife Party” attracted the godfather of hiplife - Reggie Rockstone and hiplife fore-runners like Obrafour, Tic Tac, Nana King, Lord Kenya, Ex-Doe and Chicago.
New comers, Castro, Kwabena Kwabena and Mzbel were also present. Praye, Batman, Wutah, VIP and 2Toff, Tinny, Kokovelli, Bandana, K. K. Fosu, Kwaw Kesse, Sidney, Batman, Obour, 4X4 and FBS were also present.
While this was not a night for performances, Batman and Reggie Rockstone still worked their colleagues with accapella performances.
